Crafts: October round up

I am both a seamstress and a knitter. Where do I get the time? I hear you ask. Well, knitting is my commuter hobby. I catch the train most days and so, I use that time and, sometimes the time I spend hanging around waiting for delayed trains, to knit.

Sewing, a bit like this blog, is a Sunday afternoon while little Miss is having her nap, activity.

I’m slow at both. I can’t blame that on time restraints, or being a Mum, I’ve always been slow at crafting, but I’m ok with that because I enjoy the process as much as the finished item.

This month I finally finished this tank top. Knitted from a 1970s pattern in self patterning cotton yarn, I think the finished result is beautiful.

Unfortunately, I did underestimate the amount of stretch in a fully ribbed top and so I’m not pleased with the fit on me. I’ve given this one to Grandma, who really likes it, so all is well.

Meanwhile, I’ve been making this Dottie Angel dress from an old pair of floral curtains. I bought this pattern several years ago and I’m only just getting around to making it now. C’est la vie, it’s coming together nicely.

I’m also well into my next knit. A balaclava in pink and grey to keep little Miss’ pretty little head warm and cosy through the cold winter months. This one is knitting up quite quickly so should be a November finish.

Then, I will need to start thinking about the Christmas crafts. I probably should have been thinking about the Christmas crafts 2 months ago but better late than never! I would also like to get back to my embroidery and cross stitch too, maybe over the Christmas break.

Do you craft? If so, what do you make?
